"You'll read about me someday." I was definitely dreaming then. With no evidence of that ever being possible, I clung to that preposterous vision and with the force of those dreams willed it and made it happen. Not because I needed to be famous, but because I needed a world that made me feel uninvited to be wrong, so I imagined myself free, I imagined myself loved, I imagined myself... as somebody." Final Week of the play
This if the final week of Antwone Fisher: a play at UCLA. The shows have been outstanding. The acting is incredible. I couldn't be happier. Today, I learned that Saturday is sold out for both shows and Wednesday only has twelve tickets left. The great thing about this production is that with a multi-racial class, it shows that the story is a universal story that isn't unique to men or women, boys or girls. If you are in the Los Angeles area, make a point of seeing the show. You will be happy you did.

A young man today at GJR caught the vision that he had something valuable to say. Something of value to write about life on the streets of Philly and the moral decay he sees all around him, and in him. My heart is broken for the boys, many of whom seem to have no sense of self, no one who has modeled for them what it is to be an honorable man. Today, your name was mentioned. Hope sparked in his eyes as he had a vision that perhaps he too could write, perhaps he too could be something other than a thug dealing drugs on the streets of Philly. He could write. He could dream. Perhaps he could even make a difference. Thank you for being a role model for those kids. Come back and speak to them.... they are in much need of hope. Western Pa could use a visit from you!
